Fashion blogging is big business these days and young, fashion savvy women are doing really well at it. It has always been quite a source of intrigue for me as to how it all works! Having the most wonderful day out shopping with your pals; a bit of civilized luncheon and then bringing home bag loads of swag and extolling it’s virtues “on the blog”, and being paid, seems too good to be true!!. ……..And what do they say about “if it sounds too good to be true” ?! …..So, when I was asked to take photos for fashion and lifestyle blogger “A Little Lilly” in her collaboration with MacArthur Glen at The East Midlands Designer Outlet, I was delighted! Phew! I think I’ll have some of that!
The East Midlands Designer Outlet is a shopping complex of 70 stores, cafes and restaurants, located at Pinxton, Derbyshire, just off Junction 28 of the M1. 14 million people live within a 90-minute drive of the centre and 2.7 million shoppers visit each year. McArthurGlen East Midlands is the leading Designer Outlet in the Midlands, where you can find some great labels with price reductions of up to 60%, all year round. (or so they tell me!) In the past I have heard mixed reviews about what is available there, as well as the ‘deals’ you can get and the most importantly, the labels that are for sale! Here was a great opportunity to find out for myself, take some pictures and maybe spot a fashion bargain as well!…….. Too tempting to refuse!
So, the brief was to find 5 outfits to be modelled and photographed in and around the centre for the Marketing Department to tweet and plug on Instagram each day next week, in their
run up to Black Friday!! It proved to be a much more difficult task than we had first thought! The main disadvantage of bagging a clothing bargain, is that the sizes tend to be limited, so whilst it was easy enough to put outfits together, when trying to gather the items in the right sizes proved more difficult! (Lilly is tiny!) The other challenge was trying to keep it relevant and seasonal as well! Before we knew it, several hours had passed and we had not even got the camera out of it’s bag! But, as the saying goes, “the show must go on!” so here is what we came up with!
If you’re like me and you want to know where everything came from and what a bargain all these lovely things are, whizz over to her blog HERE and have a look……
I’d let you have a sneaky look at my fantastic new Carvela loafers, but I didn’t get round to photographing them!! I think I want my next job to be fashion and lifestyle blogger 🙂
Thank you so much to Craig and all the other staff at The East Midlands Designer Outlet who made us feel so welcome. We had a really fab fun day! 🙂
