Tollerton Playgroup celebrates it’s 50th anniversary this year! This has probably got to be a record for longevity of playgroups! For many years it ran successfully in the old St Peter’s church hall in the village, but then in 2010, the long-waited purpose built building, (which is annexed to Tollerton primary school,) began! Here’s a link to the photos taken at the time:

Since that time, the playgroup has continued to go from strength to strength, initiating long lasting links in the local and neighbouring communities, to establish an amazing reputation for outstanding childcare. The building is completely self-contained, and whilst quite small, has everything needed to make it run smoothly and efficiently. Tollerton Playgroup has places for 26 children per session, so there is usually a waiting list. Certainly, if my children were little again, I would be happy for them to wait for a place there!
The photographs in the slide show were all taken at the 50th anniversary party on Saturday afternoon. We couldn’t have wished for a better day! It was warm and sun-glasses sunny to boot! Tracey, her staff and all the committee organised a really fabulous, fun afternoon for the whole family. It was perfect to snooze on the grass, or have a small drink and chat with friends whilst the children clapped and danced with Julie from Tattybumpkin or listened to Hannah from Jabberjacks captivate them with hilarious puppet tales. There were bouncy castles, face painting by Jayface Creative and a feast of cakes and snacks. The “piece of resistance” (the 50th anniversary birthday cake) was very generously made by Annabelle’s grandma, Jean.
So, well done Tracey et al! You did Tollerton proud! Here’s to the next 50 years!
If you would like a copy of any of the photos in the slide show, please ask Tracey, who has them on a disc for playgroup records. She will no doubt squeeze you for a donation for playgroup funds, so please give generously!
